THE NEXT BIG THING

A big thank you Sharon -http://newenglandmuse.wordpress.com - for tagging me  in
The Next Big Thing Blog Hop.
For those of you who don’t know, the goal is for me to answer a list of questions about my book, and then at the bottom of the post, tag five more authors, who will answer the same questions next week. It's sort of like writers tag.

1. What is the title of your book?
The title of my current project is "Immortal Summer"

2.Where did the Idea for the book come from?

I actually got the basic Idea from a student a few years back. They had to write the first act of a screenplay and this student started on a vampire idea similar to my story but bout three weeks into it they abandoned the iea for something else.

3. What genre does your book fall under?
That's tricky one, It is has a base of historical people and events but it also is a romance that involves a paranormal-type curse and witchcraft. I think the jury is going to be out for a while one this one.

4.Will your book be self-published or represented under an agency?
My first two books were self-published and this one may just be as well but I haven't decide for sure yet.

5.How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I actually started this one about 5 years ago but put it aside due to an overwhelming deluge of other ideas- had to put them on a to do list- and projects I was already working on. I restarted working on it about 6 months ago in between all my other activities, I plan to get rolling full force on it after the holidays and have it finished(I hope) by late spring.

6. Give a one sentence synopsis of your novel:
Troubled and confused, 18 yr old Persephone Vascos finds refuge and eventually love in the company of her mentor, the young Prof. St. Germain, only to discover a whole new and unexpected meaning to love everlasting.

7 . What other works would you compare your story to?  Well just about any romantic paranormal/fantasy story- a most recent example could be  maybe be the Twilight series. yeah kind of along those lines but still very different. Maybe I'd compare it more to the old Dark Shadows TV series. or better yet, a combo of the two.

8. Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I found an outline, stashed away in the file cabinet, that a student I was tutoring had discarded  a couple years earlier. I looked it over decided to hang on to it. The student had scrapped the story idea and went off in a whole other direction.  A few nights later I dreamed an entire scene from the story  and the next night a little more came to me. I started to write it all down but life and family stuff got a little rough and I had to put it aside for a while. 2 years later I came across my notes and decided to start working on it again. It's been 3 years since I started researching the Historical and Mythological aspects of the story and as of now I have approximately 7 chapters written. It may be a while yet before this book is finished.

9. What else might pique the reader’s interest?

Werewolves-witchcraft- 400 year old secrets- hidden royal bloodlines-British history- Russian history- mysteryious handsome professor- What more could any history/mystery/paranormal loving romantic asked for?

working excerpt:

Meeting him had been the most exciting experience she’s had since she arrived in Austria seven weeks ago. He was so mysterious, almost never leaving his house, a house that was filled with such beautiful antiques and paintings from hundreds of years ago. He had nothing inside the house from this century, no electricity, no indoor plumbing, no central heating, nothing. Yet, he owned a cell phone and flew a helicopter.

The darkness in his eyes was more than just coloring, they seemed lost, lonely, empty, but when he looked at her they were not cold. Not cold as they were when he would stare at the fire or out over the balcony. Then they would be cold and emotionless. His eyes together with the coal black curls and the darkness of night made him look deathly pale. She wondered if he had a phobia of some kind or if he was perhaps fighting a disease, cancer maybe. She could sense that he had a secret, a profoundly deep secret, and that only made her want him more.

Halfway up the dirt path Penny heard footsteps behind her. She started to quicken her pace, almost to a sprint, but the footsteps continued to match hers. Through the breaks in the trees she could see the candle light glowing in one of Thierry’s second floor windows. She started running, remembering that her Grandfather had told her the wolves would prowl for food near the paths on the nights when the moon was dark. The recently transplanted city girl knew how to defend herself against the kind of wolves that prowled the streets of New York City but her self defense class would be useless on the four-legged kind of the Alpine woods.

She glimpsed behind her as she hurried around the bend in the path. She no sooner turned her gaze back to trail when a large shadowy figure sprung out from the trees and grabbed her by the arm. She screamed in terror.

“Persephone?” A deep voice came from the dark.

Penny gathered herself enough to focus her eyes on his face. “Thierry?” She sighed in relief and flung her arms around his neck. “Am I ever glad to see you. I think I was being followed.”

“You were being hunted.” He slid one arm around her waist and pulled her closer. His cold, pale hand brushed her cheek as she rested her head on his chest. “What are you doing out here in the night? Hasn’t anyone told you not to come in the forest when there is no moon? It’s dangerous,” He released her from his embrace and held her by the shoulders, “and foolish. You could have been killed.”

“I wasn’t thinking of that, I just wanted to see you.”

“You’re lucky I was out here, I don’t think you would have made it to my door otherwise.” He took his long cloak off and wrapped it around her shoulders. “Here, you’re shivering. Let’s get you inside by the fire.”

Out with the old...

I have many projects going in this coming holiday season as well as the new year so it's time to shake things up around here.
.
As the end of the year approaches my website will be getting a make-over. Some pages will remain  but revamped, some will vanish and some new ones will appear. I hope to make things more efficient and of course more interesting.

I started by adding two new pages:

Book Reviews Plus- - which will of course be random book reviews but with a twist.. A supply of visual aids- Handsome Hunky Heros to choose from and insert into your imagination as you read the suggested books.

Charity Links- this will be an ever growing list of charitable opportunities- supported/suggested by celebs- to which you can offer your assistance in which ever way you choose.

Though the Camelot page will be one of those to go- many of the pictures will find thier way into the Eye Candy page- (can't be a romance writer without eye candy)

I hope you take a moment to look at these two new pages and bear with me as things change around the place.

Happy Holidays to all

Searching for RIII

The search may be over - though it is not officially declared as there is still a great bit of scientific testing to be done.
This is truly an amazing event to witness. There are so many questions to be answered and now perhaps we - the history buffs- can get some definite resolution.
The other exciting thing is that maybe, just maybe, King Richard will receive some spiritual restistution and regain some respect with a proper burial due a King.
I'm thrill and intrigued with this news and I'm sure that our sweet Richard Armitage is as well.
He might even be dancing on the ceiling if not Celloing on the Roof. (as opposed to fiddling) pun intended

Henry V !!!!

I adore Henry V-historically- But with these guys telling the story - Joe Armstrong(and his dad), Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Irons- I could just crawl into this series of movies and never come back.
judging from images I have seen Tom does present a very close remsemblance to what the real Henry may have looked like. if that's true Catherine was one lucky Queen!

Jonathan Rhys Meyers As Dracula!!!!!

NBC is getting into the vampire business.

The network has given a 10-episode series order to Dracula, a series inspired by the classic Bram Stoker character starring The Tudors' Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the titular character, NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt announced Tuesday at the Television Critics Association fall TV previews.

The series will introduce Dracula as he arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he's seeking revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. There's only one circumstance that can potentially thwart his plan: Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

'Hobbit' star Richard Armitage lands major role in tornado thriller -- EXCLUSIVE

The Hobbit just wrapped shooting and the Dec. 14 opening of its first installment, An Unexpected Journey, is still months away, but one of its stars, Richard Armitage, is already enjoying a major career boost. The British actor, who plays the fierce dwarf leader Thorin Oakenshield in Peter Jackson’s two-part adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien fantasy epic, has joined the cast of New Line’s untitled tornado thriller.
Armitage, who had roles in the BBC series North and South, Robin Hood, and MI-5, plays a widowed father who, with the help of storm chasers, tries to rescue his son from the aftermath of a string of tornadoes.
Director Steve Quale, a protégé of James Cameron who helmed Final Destination 5 and served as second unit director on Avatar, is directing the movie, which also will feature Walking Dead costar Sarah Wayne Callies. The film is set to begin shooting July 23 in Detroit.

King Richard's Greatest Sin

Wow this is the last day!! it's over!  what ever shall I do now!
okay I'll put Scarlet O'Hara to sleep and get on with the goodies

We’re in Day Seven of the FanstRAvaganza 3  and I have switched from fanfic to Richard III  tagteam chain! If you missed  yesterday's post go back and check out   http://cdoart.blogspot.com/
Or as in my case go back and start at the beginning as my rehearsal schedule and writing kept me from reading everything.

We will more than likely never know who was responsible for the princes in the tower butI have my theories.
Maybe it wasn't Richard's sin at all.

Richard Armitage’s fan base is wide and growing wider still but not just for his looks, We the hardcore RA Lovers know the deeper side of the man and he continues to provide glimpses into his mind and soul. That is what makes him so great.

When I was asked about contributing to FanstRAvaganza I wasn’t sure what I would come up with. After some thought I asked an acquaintance who had actually had the pleasure of working with Richard Armitage if she would talk about the experience but she wasn’t sure if she was free (legally) to do that and being in the midst of more than several projects I did not have the time to go looking into getting the permissions, I therefore went with my plan B.
Okay so I really didn't have a plan B but it sounded good.

All of us RA fandom know how deeply committed Richard is in the redemption of King Richard III’s reputation. The root of this image of a hideous, deformed and malicious King Richard clearly came about due to the immediate need for Henry Tudor (Henry VII) to secure his place on the throne. When I had received the invitation to provide a post for this event I had just recently watched on DVD an old series from 1972 called The Shadow of the Tower: Rise of the Tudor Dynasty, on the 4th disc, aside from the show itself, were a couple of special features one of which was a very interesting look into the details/mystery of the battle of Bosworth and the story of how Henry Tudor triumphed over Richard. Which prompted me to look deeper and over time will go deeper still.

Tudor propaganda indeed! Assuming that the show at least kept part of the script true to history, King Henry had quite a bit more than just a little motive to make Richard, or The Usurper as they called him, appear to be a great monster. Reason number one being that Richard’s claim to the throne was a lot more legitimate than his.

And what of the princes in the tower, Richard’s greatest sin? In the show this tragedy is mentioned several times however I got the feeling that if those boys had been alive when Richard died and Henry seized the crown, they would not have been around too much longer under Henry VII. I very much believe they would have been part of the same or a similar plan woven by Henry to rid himself of the Earl of Warwick, who was also a contender for the throne though the boys would have come first.

The Earl was taken to the tower as a child. Under pressure from the French (in regards to Catherine marrying Arthur) Henry was urged to destroy all possible threats to the throne. By this time the Earl was an adult so to avoid repercussion for killing an heir to the throne the King then arranged an elaborate escape plan so the Earl could then be caught and charged for treason. As escaping the King’s prison was treason. The boys would have died in the tower either way.

Under Richard’s rule, as shocking as it may have been, they were dealt with quickly. If they had made it to Henry’s rule they would have been prisoners for years with no hope of being freed. There of course is another prospect for the demise of the two princes that would render Glouster totally innocent of the crime. One that a couple of those professors on the DVD brought up. The idea that it was Henry, or at least one of his supporters, who saw to it that there was no one with a stronger, more immediate, claim to the throne once Richard was dead. The oldest of the boys would instantly be proclaimed king if Richard died and Henry would never see the crown on his head. Of course he would have to be rid of both boys as the younger could step up if the elder met with misfortune. With them out of the way there would be nothing to stop the Tudors from gaining the throne, even though the Earl, also a child of 9 or10 at the time, was in line behind the princes his claim would not have been as readily substantiated as the princes’.

Researching into Richard of Glouster’s past to find out who he real was has been very interesting, and can easily turn into an obsession,(kinda like RA himself.)but one also should look forward a few years after his death. Looking into the man, and his court, that usurped the usurper gives even more insight into Richard the man. Many of the things the first Tudor accomplished were built on the foundations that Richard’s reign provided. The more I discover about this supposedly monstrous king the more excited I get about some day, soon I hope, seeing our dear Richard Armitage bring this man to life. In the same manor those cute little Russian dolls Richard Armitage has a multitude of personalities stack up with himself and one of those, peeking playfully out through those big blue eyes, is a Richard of Glouster.

I recommend getting your hands on the series The Shadow of the Tower: Rise of the Tudor Dynasty,(found it on Netflix). Though it’s a little dated, listening to these Professor’s discuss this subject was absolutely fascinating. I only wish the extras had been longer I could have watched all day. Other books to read are “The White Queen” and “The Red Queen” both by Phillipa Gregory as well as “Sunne in Splendour” by Sharon Kay Penmen, which I know many of you have already read, and the Rose of York Series by Sandra Worth.

all this brings another question - Why didn't shakespeare write about Henry VII?
He skipped him - how come?

Thank you to all who wrote, read, posted, and pasted, ect. thanks to those who read my fanfic- Surrender My Heart- if you haven't yet drop back in another time cuz there are really cool pics of RA in the wild west..

Hope ya'll had a great time with FanstRAvaganza 3-
but I am in a Shakespeare play that opens next week so busy busy I must be TTFN (TaTa for now)- as Tigger would say!!!!until next year  bye-bye
